Music, Gettysburg! will host a Benefit Concert for a Documentary about Elsie Singmaster on July 12, 2026 at 6 p.m. at United Lutheran Seminary. The program will feature readings from Singmaster’s work alongside musical performances inspired by her writing.
A Gettysburg resident, Singmaster was a prolific and widely acclaimed author of more than 350 short stories and 42 books, many centered on the Civil War and Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. She also played a key role in founding the Adams County Library System and advancing what is now Gettysburg Hospital.
Admission is free, with a freewill offering supporting the documentary produced by Jake Boritt. As part of America250PA, the event highlights and reintroduces an important local literary figure whose work continues to connect audiences with the region’s history and heritage.
