Whether participating in the annual battle reenactment at the Daniel Lady Farm or establishing a living history encampment on the lawn at the Gettysburg Heritage Center, reenactors bring history to life in a way that is both educational and unforgettable. For many guests, these conversations and demonstrations become the highlight of their visit.
Reenactor Appreciation Weekend has been a Gettysburg tradition in one form or another for more than 20 years. The weekend serves as an opportunity for the town and its local businesses to express their gratitude for the time, effort, and personal investment reenactors devote to their impressions. It is more than a hobby; it is a way of life that leaves a lasting impact on those who experience it.
Throughout the weekend, participating businesses will offer special events and discounts. On March 14, presentations and musical performances will take place at Gettys Gear on Baltimore Street, and Reenactor Recruitment Day will be held at the Gettysburg Heritage Center on Steinwehr Avenue. Baltimore Street Creamery will feature specials and is overseeing the weekend-long event.
Reenactors are encouraged to take part in the weekend and enjoy the activities and offerings planned in their honor.
