Tintype Photography takes place at Children of Gettysburg 1863®, located at 451 Baltimore Street in Gettysburg, on Saturday and Sunday, March 14–15, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The demonstration is held in the side yard of the children’s history museum and is free and open to the public.
During the event, tintype photographer Todd Welsh demonstrates how photography was practiced during the Civil War era. Guests can watch the historic process unfold and have their likeness captured using the same photographic techniques used in the 1860s.
This special program welcomes living historians for Reenactor Appreciation Weekend 2026 in Gettysburg. Reenactors, visitors to Gettysburg, and members of the local community are invited to enjoy this interactive and memorable demonstration of vintage tintype photography.
Tickets are required to experience the Children of Gettysburg 1863® children’s history museum adventure.
