Adams County Library System presents Voices of 1776: The Diverse Faces Behind America’s Founding on Thursday, July 16 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at 140 Baltimore St in Gettysburg. This one-hour adult program led by Valerie Gugala examines the often-overlooked individuals whose contributions helped shape the American Revolution and the early United States.
Held in the heart of historic Gettysburg, the presentation highlights the experiences and influence of women, enslaved and free African Americans, Native peoples, and immigrants connected to the Revolutionary era. Through engaging historical storytelling and research, the program broadens the traditional narrative surrounding America’s founding and explores the diverse perspectives behind the nation’s early history.
Hosted by the Adams County Library System in Adams County, the event offers an educational evening for history enthusiasts, lifelong learners, and anyone interested in deeper conversations surrounding the Revolutionary period. Registration is required for this adult program, with registration closing at 6:00 PM on July 16, 2026.
