The Gettysburg Foundation and Gettysburg National Military Park will host a hands-on volunteer work day focused on preserving the historic landscape across both parks in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. This annual event brings community members together to support ongoing maintenance and restoration efforts at one of the nation’s most significant historic sites.
Volunteers will take part in a range of outdoor projects, including fence repair and construction, removal of invasive plant species, painting fences and historic structures, cleaning historic features, and painting headstones within the cemetery. After registration, park staff will assign participants to specific projects based on the day’s needs.
The event takes place entirely outdoors and offers a meaningful way to engage directly with the landscape that defines Adams County and south-central Pennsylvania. Volunteers should wear long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes, and bring a reusable water bottle. Sunscreen and bug spray are also recommended. All tools and equipment will be provided on site.
