Winter Lecture Series: Lincoln and the Election of 1864

Gettysburg National Military Park’s Winter Lecture Series continues on Sunday February 9th with Park Ranger John Nicholas and his presentation “You think I don’t know I am going to be beaten, but I do and unless some great change takes place beaten badly!”— Abraham Lincoln and the Election of 1864.

The 1864 Presidential election may have been the most contentious, and at the same time the most crucial, election in American history. The war was going badly with no end in sight, there were doubts that Abraham Lincoln would even be nominated, much less reelected. Even his own party believed he would lose reelection. How did Lincoln beat the odds? Find out during this exciting (and free to the public) program!
