The World War II American Experience will host Women’s History Day on Saturday, March 7, in celebration of Women’s History Month. Doors open at 10 a.m., and all programming is included with regular museum admission at the museum, located at 845 Crooked Creek Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
Throughout the day, visitors will enjoy a full schedule of presentations in the Eisenhower Room highlighting the impact and legacy of women in American history. Featured speakers include Julie Decker, who will present on U.S. Navy nurses held as prisoners of war by the Japanese during World War II; acclaimed American Girl author Valerie Tripp; and Antigoni Ladd, who will speak on the life and legacy of Eleanor Roosevelt. Local Girl Scouts will open the day’s programming and will be selling Girl Scout cookies.
Guests will have the opportunity to explore exhibits focused on the more than 19 million women who joined the workforce and the approximately 350,000 women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. Additional experiences include tank climb-ins available for an additional fee of $10 per climb. Lunch will be available for purchase in the museum’s on-site pub.
Visitors are invited to spend the day exploring the museum while learning about the women who shaped history both on the home front and on the front lines.
