Rising from the fields outside Biglerville, the Historic Round Barn is one of Adams County’s most distinctive landmarks and one of its most inventive. Built in 1914, this striking structure was designed with efficiency in mind. Its circular shape allowed farmers to work smarter, not harder, with livestock stalls arranged around a central silo and a roof system engineered to support heavy loads without interior columns. At a time when agriculture was rapidly modernizing, the Round Barn stood at the cutting edge of farm design.

Today, that same ingenuity gives the barn new life as a welcoming farm market. Climb steps to the second floor and you’re immediately aware of the craftsmanship overhead including massive wooden beams radiating like spokes of a wheel. The first floor buzzes with fresh produce, baked goods, local specialties, and seasonal treats. It’s a place where architecture isn’t just admired, it’s experienced.

What makes the Round Barn especially cool is how seamlessly it bridges past and present. It remains a working, useful space while preserving the vision of early 20th-century engineering. Whether you’re drawn by its history, its market offerings, or simply the wonder of standing inside a perfectly circular barn, this is one stop that proves good design truly stands the test of time.
