Discover American history at Dobbin House Square, a free outdoor museum located beside the historic 1776 Dobbin House in Gettysburg. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, this permanent attraction invites visitors to explore the documents and symbols that helped shape the United States.

At the heart of the Square are full-scale reproductions of the Charters of Freedom, including the Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution, and Bill of Rights. Visitors can also read five important Civil Rights Amendments and President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, displayed on engraved brass plates. A 2,080-pound replica of the Liberty Bell adds another meaningful connection to America’s founding.

The Square’s location beside the Dobbin House brings together several chapters of American history. Built in 1776 by the Rev. Alexander Dobbin, the historic home served as an early school, later became connected to the Underground Railroad, and was used as a hospital following the Battle of Gettysburg. The outdoor museum continues Dobbin’s commitment to education by offering visitors an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s history and the rights and freedoms established through its founding documents.

Located across from the Gettysburg National Cemetery, Dobbin House Square is an easy addition to a day of exploring Gettysburg’s historic attractions. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, visiting with family, or simply passing through, the Square offers a meaningful opportunity to experience American history at your own pace.

Admission is free, and Dobbin House Square is open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
