Cool. Eclectic. Fresh. With its appeal to a wide and varied audience, Because It’s a Lion brings a diverse, creative, and thought-provoking collection of art and artifacts to downtown Gettysburg.
Owner and animal advocate Susan Beck Harrison fills the shop’s windows with powerful and compelling, if sometimes unusual, pieces that reflect a current theme, season, or holiday. Her eye-catching displays invite in casual, curious guests and devoted art seekers alike. The shop’s selection, combined with her mission of “art aiding animals,” has helped Harrison create a vibrant boutique full of old and new, as well as vintage and modern, in art, accessories, and collectibles. She also offers local artists and creators a singularly unique place to display their work.
With a passion for an extensive variety of art styles, movements, and eras, Harrison wants guests at Because It’s a Lion to explore and investigate various themes and mediums to find something that speaks to them. Patrons can find a connection with French Impressionist canvases, reproduction prints, vintage décor, or other one-of-a-kind creations and claim them as their own.
Because It’s a Lion is located one block north of Lincoln Square, on Carlisle Street.
A portion of the proceeds from the shop benefit Love Lions Alive Sanctuary in South Africa.
