Continuing a long family history of moonshine production, Kayla and Eric Miner keep the tradition alive today with the Gettysburg Moonshine Company. Tracing back generations from her father, Kayla employs her family’s rich distilling history to keep the recipes and the stories of her ancestors alive.
Distilling in the Laurel Highlands, Kayla’s great grandfather, Lawrence Shawley, learned shining from his dad and his grandfathers before him. Lawrence sold his Rye Moonshine to prominent community members whose financial support enabled him to purchase the family farm in the early 1900s.
Now, located at 271 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg Moonshine Company produces a high-quality rye shine from that same recipe—a recipe that dates before the Civil War, making it just as historic as the building in which it’s produced. Kayla also honors her father’s memory and tradition by distilling Apple Pie Moonshine, a moonshine that goes down smooth and warm, from his own personal recipe.
At Gettysburg Moonshine Company, Kayla and Eric even produce their own recipe corn shine and invite liquor amateurs, aficionados, and enthusiasts to come taste what they have to offer.
Gettysburg Moonshine Company is strictly 21 and over only.
