Reasons to Visit Gettysburg this April

Visitors aren’t the only ones loving the Springtime sun. Seas of fruit trees are starting to show their amazing colors. Our Adams County Blossom Belt is better than ever and you can get your hands on a free map to guide you to the Spring spectacle.

The National Apple Museum and Hollabaugh Bros. Fruit Farm & Market are ready to usher in the Spring season with two events aimed to bring visitors from around the country face-to-face with the colorful landscape.

But it’s not just our fruit trees that are dazzling the Gettysburg countryside. Fields of Adventure invites you to celebrate the season with its “Spring on the Farm,” event when the fields come alive in pastels of tulips, along with baby animals, farm attractions and more.

Perhaps, there’s no better way to take a drive through the countryside than by motorcycle, and while you’re zipping through the orchards and over the rolling hills, swing by Battlefield Harley on April 6 for its 23 annual Blessing of the Bikes event. This event draws hundreds of motorcyclists every year and is capped off with a concert by Six Whiskey Revival.

With warmer weather comes outdoor dining, and Gettysburg is home to a wide assortment of restaurants, coffee shops, wineries, breweries and cafes that bring delicious food out to diners soaking up the sun and fresh air.

Celebrate Easter, Eisenhower-style with the Easter Egg Roll at the Eisenhower National Historic Site on April 19. Enjoy fun-filled activities throughout the day, including its signature event – the Egg Roll, a long-time presidential tradition.

If Springtime for you means lacing up your running shoes, there are some amazing April races for you to shake off the winter rust and get moving again. Check out the inaugural Bruce Hollabaugh 5K Memorial Run at Hollabaugh Bros. Fruit Farm, or the Gettysburg Festival of Races, a series of events ranging from marathon distance to 5K.

History and art go together like spaghetti and meatballs, peanut butter and jelly. The History Meets the Arts show is back for its 26^th year in Gettysburg. From April 11-12, admire (and purchase) amazing artwork by a variety of painters, sculptors and other craftspeople.

There’s no better sign that summer is around the corner than fresh fruits and vegetables. Our Adams County Farmer’s Market opens on April 26, and is a colorful and delicious way to celebrate the season!
