In honor of the Martin Luther King weekend, the Gettysburg Licensed Town Guides will be hosting special Black History Tours. During these 60-minute tours, you will learn about the contributions that African Americans made to the town of Gettysburg, and you will visit a variety of homes and buildings associated with their history.

The town has a rich history because of its proximity to the Mason-Dixon Line caused many people of color to settle here. You will learn about Frederick Douglass, Basil Biggs, Jack Hopkins, to name just a few.

You may also pay a visit to the Lincoln Cemetery that was formed for Black citizens after the Civil War.
