Civilian’s Experience Town Tour, Evening tour

Step into the streets of historic Gettysburg and discover the town through the eyes of the civilians who lived through one of the most pivotal moments in American history. Presented by Gettysburg Licensed Town Guides, the Civilian’s Experience Town Tour shares powerful firsthand accounts from local residents whose lives changed during and after the Battle of Gettysburg.

This guided walking tour explores the homes, businesses, churches, and streets where civilians witnessed the arrival of armies, endured the chaos of battle, and faced the challenges of caring for thousands of wounded soldiers. Through historic photographs and primary-source accounts, guests gain a deeper understanding of the people who called Gettysburg home and the lasting impact the battle had on the community.

Unlike scripted presentations, each Gettysburg Licensed Town Guide develops a unique tour experience, offering fresh perspectives and carefully researched stories that connect visitors to the town’s rich history. The tour features approximately 60 minutes of easy walking and can be adjusted for mobility needs with advance notice.

The Civilian’s Experience Town Tour takes place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. Reservations are required.
