After 160 years, you can now enter the basement of the Welty House and conduct a ghost hunt inside, around the surrounding area, and in the Brickhouse Inn Basement.

During the Battle of Gettysburg, the Welty and Rupp families hid out in the basement for safety. Impact marks from the battle are still visible throughout the home’s exterior.

Scores of Union and Confederate Soldiers were killed and buried on the property. The Welty House has Union soldiers on one side, and Confederates, who used the house as a sharpshooter position, on the other side. Beyond the Welty House lie the house where Jennie Wade was killed (it is very likely she was killed by a sharpshooter from the Welty House), and Cemetery Ridge. Scores of soldiers were buried in the yard before being relocated to the Gettysburg National Cemetery, where Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address.

Join us for a limited capacity (16 persons) ghost hunt in this newly opened area in Gettysburg, never before available to the public. If you’re new to ghost hunting or experienced, you’re welcome to join. We start each ghost hunt discussing the history of the area and the Welty House in relation to the Battle of Gettysburg, an overview of the ghost hunt equipment, and the order of the hunt.

Depending on group size, we will split the group into two or three areas:
1. The Welty House Basement
2. The backyard area where soldiers
3. The basement of the Brickhouse Inn

Each tour is supervised by a ghost hunt guide.

Equipment includes:
-Emf detector
-Laser grid
-Spirit Box
-and more!
