The Longest Yarn is a three-dimensional wool tapestry that tells the momentous story of June 6, from the build-up and launch in England through the Normandy invasion.
Knitted and crocheted by hundreds of volunteers worldwide, the folk art exhibit was created with guidance from historians, retained by the project, to be historically accurate. Each of the 80 unique scenes illustrate the story of this momentous day in history.
The entire traveling exhibit measures 80 meters (265 feet) and represents the 80 years since D-Day and the 80 days it took for the Allies to liberate Paris.

Gettysburg History (Adams County Historical Society) cordially invites guests to tour the Shriver House Museum as it is meticulously decorated in 1860s Christmas fashion. Hear about each of the five Christmases the Shriver family spent in their home on Baltimore Street and learn how the Battle of Gettysburg and the Civil War affected the holiday season.
The 45-minute tour covers all four floors of the Shriver family’s original home, from the attic to the saloon in the cellar.

Experience an evening of historic pageantry at the 2025 Civil War Barn Dance hosted by Daughters of Union Soldiers, Gettysburg. Saturday, October 4, Beech Springs Farms welcomes guests to don period attire, listen to the Susquehanna Travelers, and dance to the calls of Mistress Rebecca Kesler.
