John Burns: The Hero of Gettysburg

On July 1, 1863, John Burns left his Gettysburg home and joined in the fighting west of the town. He was wounded and captured but survived the battle to become one of the famous civilian warriors in American history. Join historian and author Timothy H. Smith as he relates the story of “The Hero of Gettysburg” during this free, public talk.

34th Adams County Heritage Festival

September 21st, Celebrate the diverse cultural traditions that make up the community of Adams County at the Gettysburg Rec Park. This event features music, food, and the arts with performances that represent American roots, Ukrainian, Latino/a, and African American traditions. Food vendors on site offer a large variety of cuisines and booths display artifacts representing various cultures and show traditional crafts in action. Other booths will include craft vendors, exhibits by local nonprofits, and children’s art activities.Come to the 34th Annual Heritage Festival and discover the people, the traditions, the food and the music that creates community in Adams County.

Jennie Wade Specialty Tour and Book Signing with Author Cindy Small

Remember the life of Jennie Wade on Saturday, July 5th from 12PM to 1PM during a Jennie Wade House Specialty Tour. Cindy Small, author of “Jennie Wade of Gettysburg” will be presenting part of this inspiring tour.After the tour, Cindy will sign purchased copies of her book in the gift shop from 1PM to 2PM.Space is limited on this popular tour – we suggest purchasing tickets in advance online or in person at the Tour Center or Jennie Wade Gift Shop.Check in 15 minutes before tour time at 548 Baltimore Street.

Gettysburg Sports Card Show

On 9/13, Captian Romeros returns along with our coin show friends in the other event room. Last time we ran our shows together, we had thousands of people attend both shows. As always, will have a variety of sports cards, memorabilia, Pokémon and TCG, WWE and more. Cash bar in the room with free entry and free parking.

Antique Appraisal Faire

Event is free and open to the publicFor a $15 donation per item (limit of 3) to be donated to the New Oxford Area Historical Society attendees will have a chance to learn about the history and value of the item brought to the event from a cadre of appraisers on hand for the event and visit the historic Livingston building. Pollinator Festival & Native Plant Sale

The Adams County Farmers Market is excited to once again host our Pollinator Festival & Native Plant Sale in conjunction with National Pollinator Week.This initiative was started to raise awareness for pollinators and spread the word about what we can do to protect them.
