Gettysburg Camp 112, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, presents a grave visitation and honor guard ceremony honoring SGT Daniel Reigle on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. to noon at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Littlestown, PA.
Reigle, an Adams County native born in Mount Joy Township in 1841, served with Company F, 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment, known as the Gettysburg Independent Blues. The garden was always an important commodity during the Civil War era, and Hettie Shriver would have filled hers with all of the herbs, plants, and vegetables that she would need to provide for her family.
As an added bonus, participants will bring a piece of the Shriver House home with them, taking a plant to grow in their own gardens.
